What happened
American Express is paying a 35% bonus on U.S. Membership Rewards transfers to Marriott Bonvoy from October 20 through December 10, 2026, Mountain Time. Every 1,000 Membership Rewards points become 1,350 Bonvoy points.
Transfers must fall between 1,000 and 999,000 Membership Rewards points per transaction. Extra Bonvoy points can take up to 72 hours to post and do not count toward Marriott elite status. Points cannot be moved back to Membership Rewards. U.S. Rewards accounts enrolled in Bonvoy qualify. Canceled and past-due accounts are excluded, along with accounts linked only to legacy cards or Amex checking products.
Frequent Miler puts Marriott points at 0.73 cents each. Even with 35% extra, typical returns stay under a cent per Membership Rewards point.
Only transfer against a Marriott stay already worth booking; otherwise leave the points in Membership Rewards.
