Lufthansa Introduces Up to €2,000 Cancellation Fees for Flex Fares on Asia-Pacific and Africa Routes

Effective April 7, 2026, Lufthansa raised cancellation fees on selected Asia-Pacific and Africa routes, charging up to €2,000 even for Flex fares in Business and First Class

What happened

Business Class: Refund fees range from non-refundable (Light/Basic) to €1,500 (Flex).
First Class: Refund fees range from non-refundable (Basic) to €2,000 (Basic Plus/Green) and €1,500 (Flex). This marks a shift from the traditional flexibility associated with Lufthansa's premium fares. The airline also recently adjusted group travel rules (180-day limit) and Miles & More award ticket taxes

Lufthansa has implemented a significant increase in cancellation and refund fees for tickets on routes to/from Asia-Pacific (excluding China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia) and Africa.
