Lufthansa Expands Business Class Seat Fees to A380

Effective September 15, 2026, Lufthansa will charge up to €170 for premium seat assignments on its A380 business class, including 'Privacy Seats' and 'Extra Long Bed Seats'

What happened

  • Privacy Seats: Window seats (rows A and K) closest to the window.
  • Extra Long Bed Seats: Bulkhead window seats featuring a larger ottoman. Exemptions:
  • Miles & More HON Circle and Senator members, as well as passengers holding Business Flex fares, can assign Privacy Seats for free.
  • HON Circle members can assign Extra Long Bed Seats for free.
  • Note: Elites cannot assign Extra Long Bed Seats for free on Business Light fares. This change aligns Lufthansa's A380 pricing with its newer Allegris cabins and follows industry trends where major European carriers monetize specific seat locations

Lufthansa is expanding its business class seat assignment fee model to its reconfigured Airbus A380 fleet, which features the Thompson Aero Vantage XL product rather than the Allegris cabin. Starting September 15, 2026, the airline will charge up to €170 per sector for specific premium seating options:
