What happened
A brand new Lufthansa Boeing 787-9, registration D-ABPQ, suffered a nose landing gear collapse while parked at a gate at Frankfurt Airport (FRA). The aircraft, which entered long-haul service on February 13, 2026, and features Allegris interiors, was scheduled to operate flight LH450 to Los Angeles (LAX), which was canceled as a result. Photos shared by a Reddit user show the collapsed nose gear, a ripped-off landing gear panel, and a ULD in the forward right cargo hold. While the cause is under investigation, the incident resembles a June 2021 British Airways 787 gear collapse caused by a deferred maintenance procedure error. The aircraft is expected to be out of service for an extended period, potentially around five months
