What happened
Hawaiian Airlines is adding a roughly 13,000-square-foot premium lounge in the Mauka Concourse of Honolulu's Terminal 1 in early 2028, with capacity for about 200 guests. The space will serve Alaska and Hawaiian customers and is expected to feel like an Alaska Lounge with Hawaiian branding.
Alaska first announced the project in early 2025 and has now released more details and updated renderings. Food and drink will be locally inspired, with a full-service bar. The existing Plumeria Lounge is small and consistently overcrowded.
Access rules are not confirmed. The lounge is presumed to follow the Alaska Lounge network for members and long-haul premium-cabin passengers. Paid first class bought with cash or points on 2,000+ mile segments currently includes lounge access, which would cover mainland to Hawaii first class except upgrades. That policy may not last.
There is nothing to book now; watch for a confirmed early 2028 opening and whether Alaska Lounge access rules apply.
