What happened
JetBlue now charges $50 off-peak or $55 peak for a first checked bag prepaid more than 24 hours ahead, and $60 or $70 if paid later, on tickets bought from November 3, 2026. The $50 minimum is 28% above the March figure and the second hike of 2026, after the cheapest bag moved from $35 to $39.
The new prices apply on U.S. and Canadian flights and on service to Latin America and the Caribbean. Mosaic 1 still includes one checked bag and Mosaic 2 through 4 include two. JetBlue Plus and Premier cardholders still get a first bag free, as do Mint and upcoming BlueFirst seats. Tickets bought before November 3 keep the old rates.
A family of four checking one bag each pays $440 roundtrip on peak dates if they prepay, or $560 at check-in. After the March increase, United and Delta matched within weeks, as did American and Southwest. Watch for other U.S. airlines to copy the $50 floor, and keep Mosaic or a Plus or Premier card for a first bag that otherwise costs as much as $140 roundtrip.
