What happened
Japan Airlines issued a notice announcing the suspension of one of its two daily Tokyo–Chicago flights at the end of the IATA 26/27 Winter Season on March 28, 2027. The specific flights affected are JL056 (Tokyo Narita to Chicago, departing 09:45) and JL055 (Chicago to Tokyo Narita, departing 10:40). American Airlines will begin operating the replacement flight on the same route, departing Narita at roughly the same time as the JAL flight it replaces. This allows AAdvantage members to earn miles and use upgrade instruments on the route. Passengers holding existing tickets will be offered rebooking on alternative JAL flights or a full refund, including on non-refundable tickets. Those who purchased through third parties must contact their point of purchase directly
