What happened
IndiGo announced that Willie Walsh will become the company’s new CEO, starting no later than August 3, 2026. He replaces Pieter Elbers, who was pushed out after an operational meltdown. Walsh, currently Director General of IATA, brings extensive experience as former CEO of British Airways, IAG, and Aer Lingus. Known as a "slasher" for his ruthless cost-cutting, his appointment raises questions about whether he will continue IndiGo's long-haul expansion strategy (including A350-900 acquisitions) or refocus on its core low-cost regional model
