What happened
From June 1, 2027, Skywards Miles earned on a flight or partner activity will expire at the end of that month plus 36 months. The current rule rounds expiry to the end of the member's birth month and can stretch validity to 47-48 months.
Miles already in accounts stay on the old rule. Only miles earned from June 1, 2027 follow the new schedule. Emirates says every member will then share the same expiry length, which it calls easier to track. More unused miles are expected to expire than under birth-month expiry.
Use existing Skywards miles on the birth-month calendar and treat anything earned from June 2027 as expiring 36 months after the end of the earning month.
