What happened
Japan Airlines Mileage Bank is now a Citi ThankYou transfer partner, with a 30% launch bonus on transfers completed through October 24, 2026 Eastern Time. Premium cards convert at 1.3 JAL miles per ThankYou point. Cards without an annual fee convert at 0.91 miles per point.
The standard rates are 1:1 on premium ThankYou cards and 1:0.7 on no-annual-fee cards. 1,000 premium points become 1,300 JAL miles during the bonus. Transfers typically post within 24 hours and can take up to 5 business days. A Mileage Bank number must be registered with Citi before any transfer will process. Miles expire 36 months after they land, and new accounts generally cannot book awards for 60 days.
Awards are limited to the member and relatives by blood or marriage. Some JAL awards carry extremely high carrier surcharges. Transfer only against a specific award that can be booked, and finish before October 24, 2026.
