What happened
- New Ratio: 4:3 (4 Chase points = 3 Hyatt points).
- Effective Date: For cardholders who applied on or after June 15, 2026, the reduced ratio is already in effect. For those who applied before June 15, the 1:1 ratio continues until October 1, 2026, when it drops to 4:3. Impact on Redemptions:
- A 30,000-point Hyatt award now requires 40,000 Chase points instead of 30,000.
- The additional 10,000 Chase points are valued at approximately $205 based on TPG's June 2026 valuations.
- Even small redemptions are affected; for example, a 4,500-point Hyatt Place stay requires 6,000 Chase points (transferring in 1,000-point increments) rather than 5,000. This change makes Hyatt awards more expensive for Sapphire Preferred holders compared to those with the 1:1 ratio (typically Sapphire Reserve or Premier Plus holders)
Chase is reducing the transfer ratio between Chase Ultimate Rewards and World of Hyatt for select cardholders, specifically impacting the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card. The Change:
