What happened
British Airways is rolling out free Starlink Wi-Fi across its entire fleet, marking a shift from its previous paid Wi-Fi model. The installation has already begun, with the first aircraft, a Boeing 787-8 (registration G-ZBJJ), already fitted with the system. The airline plans to equip its long-haul and short-haul aircraft with the high-speed, low-latency service, which will be available gate-to-gate. A key differentiator is that the service is free for all passengers and requires no special login or British Airways Club membership, countering the industry trend of tying connectivity to loyalty status. While the 787-8 fleet is the initial focus, the rollout will extend to the rest of the 250+ aircraft over time
