Amex Business Gold restricts 4X ads and wireless from Feb 17, 2027

What happened

American Express will pay 4X Membership Rewards on advertising and wireless telephone spend on the Business Gold Card only at named vendors billed directly, starting February 17, 2027. The card pays 4X on a business's two highest-spend categories each billing cycle, chosen from six listed categories, on the first $150,000 combined each calendar year, then 1X.

From that date, advertising 4X will post only at Meta, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, GoDaddy and Yelp. Wireless 4X will cover only monthly service billed directly by a named list of U.S. carriers. The remaining categories are unchanged. Cardholders keep 4X on the two eligible categories with the most spend each cycle, up to the same $150,000 cap.

Spend with advertising platforms or wireless carriers left off the new lists will lose 4X unless a different category still finishes in the monthly top two. AwardWallet Blog says many major providers still qualify and calls the hit limited.

Shift advertising or wireless bills that sit outside the 2027 lists, or the monthly category mix, before February 17.
