What happened
American Airlines and Citi will charge $150 a year for the Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select World Elite Mastercard on renewals beginning January 24, 2027, up from $99. New accounts still have the annual fee waived for the first year. Existing cardmembers pick up the new benefits on that date.
The card now includes a Walmart+ membership for the primary cardmember, listed at $98 retail. A $100 annual statement credit applies to inflight food and drinks plus Wi-Fi and takes the place of the 25% inflight rebate. Admirals Club spend does not count toward that credit. The American Airlines flight discount after $20,000 in annual spend and a renewal rises from $125 to $150, only if that spend lands on or after January 24, 2027.
The card pays 3 miles per dollar on eligible AAdvantage Hotels and AAdvantage Cars bookings. American flight purchases still earn 2 miles per dollar. Trip delay coverage reimburses up to $500 per covered traveler per trip.
Existing cardmembers should weigh Walmart+ plus the $100 inflight credit against the extra $51 ahead of the January 24, 2027 renewal instead of shifting spend for the modest earn-rate tweaks.
