Amex Platinum earns 5X on prepaid Airbnb through Amex Travel

What happened

US Platinum and Business Platinum Cards earn 5X Membership Rewards on prepaid Airbnb bookings through Amex Travel starting 22 October 2026. Other eligible Membership Rewards cards earn 2X on those prepaid Amex Travel bookings. The US Green Card earns 3X when Airbnb is booked on third-party travel sites.

The US Platinum Card's $600 Hotel Credit is now the Lodging Credit and still pays up to $300 in statement credits twice a year. US Consumer and Business Platinum Cards also receive a $250 Airbnb Experiences Credit. Experiences do not count if checkout has to be completed on another platform. Platinum still earns 5X on a standard Airbnb prepaid through Amex Travel. That booking does not trigger the Lodging Credit or the Experiences Credit.

From 1 January 2027 a one-night Fine Hotels + Resorts stay no longer earns the lodging statement credit. The credit then requires a two-night stay. FHR perks still apply to one-night stays. Canadian-issued Membership Rewards cards do not get the new earn rates or credits. Route Airbnb through Amex Travel on a US Platinum Card, and do not rely on a one-night FHR stay for the Lodging Credit from 1 January 2027.
