Amex limits Business Gold 4x ads and wireless to named U.S. merchants

What happened

American Express will narrow the Business Gold card's 4x advertising and wireless categories to named U.S. merchants only on February 17, 2027. The card will still pick the 2 categories with the most spend each billing cycle for 4x, capped at $150,000 per calendar year.

Advertising 4x will then apply only to online, television or radio ads billed directly to Meta, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, GoDaddy or Yelp. Wireless 4x will no longer cover every U.S. carrier and will apply only to listed U.S. providers billed directly for monthly telephone service. Other telecom spend does not qualify. Other 4x categories are not described as changing.

Match your ad platforms and wireless carriers to the approved lists and move off-list spend before February 17, 2027.
