Alaska Airlines to Remove Atmos Earning on Basic Economy, Raise Partner Award Fees

Alaska Airlines is eliminating Atmos points and status earning on basic economy (saver) fares effective August 1 and increasing partner award booking fees from $12.50 to $20 each way starting July 1

What happened

Alaska Airlines is implementing two key changes to its Mileage Plan program. First, the airline is removing the ability to earn Atmos points and status on basic economy (saver) fares. For flights departing by July 31, travelers will still earn 30% of the points flown. For future travel booked before June 11, the 30% earn rate applies even if the flight departs after July 31. However, for flights booked after August 1, no Atmos points or status will be earned on saver fares. This change does not affect Main Cabin or higher fare classes. Second, the fee for booking partner award flights via Mileage Plan will increase from $12.50 to $20 each way, effective July 1. This 60% increase applies to all bookings, though the fee is waived for holders of the Alaska Airlines Summit Visa Infinite credit card
