What happened
Air Canada is selling Aeroplan points through Points.com from October 14 to 29, 2026, with a 90% bonus on purchases of 80,000 or more. That rate is 1.39 US cents per mile.
The offer is account-specific. Aeroplan members in good standing must refresh a logged-in session during the sale to buy. Purchases of 5,000 to 25,000 points earn a 50% bonus and 30,000 to 70,000 points earn a 75% bonus. There is no bonus below 5,000 points. Only Points.com purchases qualify, and bought points are non-refundable. Each transaction can run from 5,000 to 500,000 points, up from the usual 250,000 cap. Base points bought count toward a 1,000,000 annual cap, with bonus points excluded. Buying for another member posts the points and the bonus to that account, subject to a 500,000 annual gift cap.
The points still work for Star Alliance and extra-partner awards booked online with stopovers, but the 1.39 US cent rate is higher than some bonus sales in 2024 and 2025. Buy only against an award that needs at least 80,000 more points now; otherwise wait for a cheaper sale.
