The White House released its 2027 budget proposal, which includes a plan to privatize the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to cut $52 million in costs. The initiative will start by requiring small airports to enroll in the Screening Partnership Program (SPP), where private screeners are paid for by the TSA. This follows previous Republican efforts like the 'Abolish the TSA Act' but represents a more gradual approach. The proposal cites savings demonstrated by airports already using the SPP, such as Kansas City (MCI) and San Francisco (SFO). It is not yet clear if this will eventually lead to full privatization or remain focused on smaller airports
