Southwest Airlines is expanding its presence in Las Vegas (LAS) and Orlando (MCO) following the collapse of Spirit Airlines. The carrier will add or increase service on 26 routes from LAS and 23 from MCO. Four entirely new routes are announced: LAS to Boston Logan (BOS), LAS to McGhee Tyson (TYS) near Knoxville, LAS to Miami (MIA), and LAS to Philadelphia (PHL). These new services are scheduled to begin in March 2027. Tickets for these routes are not yet on sale. Southwest also notes that JetBlue, Breeze Airways, and Frontier are making competitive moves at other airports like FLL, ACY, DFW, and DTW. The announcement highlights Southwest's strategy to fill the market share gap left by Spirit, which shut down in early May 2026
