What happened
Singapore Airlines has quietly changed its business class seat selection policy, effective June 2, 2026, regardless of ticket issue date. The airline is now blocking approximately the first half of the business class cabin for most passengers. PPS Club members and those holding Flexible or Standard business class fares retain the ability to choose any seat in the cabin. Passengers without PPS tier, including those on award tickets or discounted business fares, are restricted to selecting seats only in the rear "ghetto" section of the cabin. There is no explicit disclosure during the booking process indicating this restriction. The policy applies to key routes including SQ934 to Denpasar, SQ714 to Bangkok, SQ324 to Amsterdam, SQ318 to London Heathrow, and SQ231 to Sydney. While SQ does not charge for seat selection, the restriction means non-PPS/discounted passengers must check in early to secure the best available seats within their restricted section
