What happened
Marriott has signed an agreement with Kemmons Wilson Hospitality Partners to manage the Resort at Kapalua Bay in Maui, which will eventually be converted to the St. Regis brand. Marriott's management began on March 14, 2026, while the property undergoes renovations. The conversion marks the St. Regis brand's return to Hawaii, following the 2022 rebranding of the St. Regis Princeville Resort to 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay. The property features 146 multi-bedroom residences ranging from 1,774 to 4,050 square feet. It is currently part of Marriott STARS, allowing guests to earn points and receive elite perks like breakfast and upgrades. Rates currently start around $2,500 per night
