Park Hyatt Sydney Adopts 'Resort' Status, Ending Guaranteed Late Checkout for Globalists

What happened

Park Hyatt Sydney has adopted "resort" status within the World of Hyatt program. This classification change means that Globalist members will no longer receive a guaranteed 4 PM late checkout; instead, it will be offered based on availability at the time of departure. The change appears to be driven by operational pressures, as high revenue rates and limited room turnover make it difficult to accommodate guaranteed late checkouts for points guests while managing paid arrivals. This follows a similar trend at Park Hyatt Tokyo, which recently declared itself a resort property for the same reasons. For Globalists, this reduces the value proposition of the property, particularly since Park Hyatt Sydney does not participate in suite upgrades. While late checkout can still be guaranteed through Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts (FHR) or Virtuoso bookings, these rates often come with other restrictions, such as the lack of confirmed suite upgrades
