What happened
A Lufthansa Airbus A320neo entering service on August 19, 2026 will carry the group's first free Starlink Wi-Fi for Miles & More Travel ID holders. The group plans to equip all approximately 850 aircraft by 2029 and says it will include every member airline, a contrast with Air France-KLM and IAG.
Anyone can create a Travel ID at no cost. Initial installs look to be on Lufthansa regional aircraft, with no published sequence for the rest of the fleet. The service is described as high-speed and low-latency from gate to gate. Dieter Vranckx, the group's commercial chief, called onboard internet part of a premium experience in every cabin. A 2029 finish is described as a best-case timeline, so most aircraft will lack the service for years.
Open a free Miles & More Travel ID before the next group flight, and treat Starlink as scarce until the 2029 rollout is much further along.
