What happened
A The Points Guy writer earned 24,500 Wyndham Rewards points from two $90 stays at Days Inn by Wyndham Patong Beach Phuket. The writer was already headed to Asia and stacked a stay promotion with a Wyndham Rewards Earner Business Card bonus.
The promotion paid 7,500 points for two nights. Paying with a Wyndham Rewards card added 7,500 more on stays of two nights or longer. The writer is not a Wyndham Rewards Insider and could not claim a matching bonus. Barclays declined the card on the first stay, so that visit posted 8,500 points: 7,500 promotional plus the 1,000-point stay minimum.
The second stay posted another two-night bonus plus the 7,500-point cardmember bonus. Card spend added 720 points. The Points Guy's August 2026 valuations put 24,500 Wyndham points at $172. Entry-level awards were set to fall to 5,000 points a night on Sept. 15. The old version of the Wyndham Business Earner card takes 10% off awards, so a night costs 4,500 points.
Only book extra stays for a promotion when the trip is already planned and the points have a use.
