What happened
EVA Air priced Infinity MileageLands miles as low as 2.86 cents each when members bought 36,000 to 150,000 miles through August 5. 1,000 to 2,000 miles cost 4 cents with no bonus. A 10% bonus brought 3,000 to 15,000 miles to 3.64 cents. A 25% bonus brought 16,000 to 35,000 miles to 3.2 cents.
Buys had to be in 1,000-mile increments and remained valid for 36 months. The calendar-year cap was 150,000 miles. A redemption could use purchased miles for only 50% of the total. The rest had to be earned. Status credit was not awarded on the purchase. Mixing in miles transferred from another member was not allowed. EVA collects fuel surcharges on awards.
AwardWallet Blog reports the 40% bonus has ended, though miles can still be bought without it. Do not purchase unless an earned balance already covers half of an award that can be ticketed now.
