What happened

Chase has updated its website to confirm that the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card is ending its 10% anniversary bonus points perk. This benefit, which awarded cardholders 10% of their base spending as bonus points on their account anniversary, is being retired. The change applies to purchases made through October 1, 2026. Points earned from welcome bonuses and spending multipliers were previously ineligible for this boost. The card's core rewards structure (5x on Chase Travel, 3x on dining/streaming/groceries, 2x on other travel) remains unchanged. This represents a permanent reduction in the card's value for long-term holders
