Bilt removes upgrade and downgrade clawback language from card terms

What happened

Bilt has stripped upgrade and downgrade clauses from its credit-card terms around October 1 or 2, about a week after Frequent Miler flagged language that appeared on September 18. Those clauses had read as if a welcome bonus could be taken back long after a downgrade.

Frequent Miler asked Bilt to clarify and received no reply. The posted terms still carry an August 28, 2026 update date even though the text changed in September and again in October. Cardholders who might change products no longer see those clawback-style rules in the live document.

Frequent Miler points to Bilt Cash BLADE redemptions as a precedent, because language that vanished from the terms later showed up word for word when that feature went live. The site therefore expects those rules to return, and hopes a new version is clearer about clawbacks at renewal.

Check Bilt's current card terms before changing products, and watch for those clauses to return.
