What happened
Alaska Airlines began selling economy Mileage Plan awards to nine destinations at up to 50% off on August 4, 2026, with bookings open through August 8, 2026. Prices start at 20,000 to 35,000 miles one way depending on the city, and travel can run through February 28, 2027.
The sale is economy only and applies to itineraries that start or end in the United States, on Alaska or Hawaiian flights as well as global partners. Alaska and Hawaiian awards start at $5.60 in taxes and fees each way. Partner tickets add a $20 nonrefundable fee each way. Taxes and fees on those tickets can exceed $100 each way. A single stopover of up to 14 days is allowed on eligible international itineraries. Only select flights qualify, and those starting prices may already be gone.
Sydney is available August 1, 2026 through February 28, 2027. Rome is limited to travel through October 23, 2026. Hong Kong is priced for January and February 2027. Surcharges on British Airways transatlantic flights run very high.
