What happened
Alaska Airlines now credits Atmos Rewards miles on Jetstar flights booked through its website, with no way to redeem those miles on the carrier.
The Qantas-owned low-cost airline sits in Alaska's earn-only partner tier, below Oneworld and the airlines that allow both earning and redemption. Miles post only when the trip is purchased on alaskaair.com. Elite benefits do not apply because Jetstar is outside Oneworld.
The partner listing still describes Jetstar's domestic network in Japan. Qantas is selling its stake in that Japanese unit, which is due to be renamed next year. Buy the ticket on alaskaair.com only if the miles are worth collecting, and ignore Jetstar for award seats or elite recognition.
