Air France & KLM Expand Business Class Seat Fees to More Markets

Air France and KLM have expanded their Advance Seat Reservation fees to include award tickets and most long-haul routes, including those to North America, with exemptions for elite members and Business Flex passengers

What happened

Air France and KLM have expanded their Advance Seat Reservation (ASR) scheme, which charges for advance seat assignments in business class. The fees now apply to all long-haul flights globally when redeeming miles, as well as all Business Light and Business Standard long-haul tickets, except those originating in the United States. Flying Blue Silver, Gold, and Platinum members, Business Flex passengers, and corporate customers remain exempt. The cost varies, often exceeding $200, and can be paid with Flying Blue miles at a poor value rate. This expansion follows a similar move by British Airways and aims to generate additional revenue
