TPG Polling: 32% of Summer Travelers Will Reconsider Plans if Prices Rise

A TPG/YouGov poll finds 32% of summer travelers may reconsider plans if airfare and gas prices continue rising, though 71% still plan to travel as much or more than last summer

What happened

New polling from The Points Guy and YouGov reveals that 32% of Americans planning summer travel will reconsider their plans if airfare and gasoline costs continue to rise. Despite prices being approximately 27% higher year-over-year, 71% of respondents plan to travel about the same or more than last summer. Of those traveling less, 39% cited economic insecurity and 30% cited higher airfare. Among those maintaining or increasing travel, 26% plan to change their mode of travel (e.g., driving vs. flying), while 38% are not making changes to spend less. 68% of travelers with summer plans are spending the same or more money
