Singapore Airlines has announced plans to introduce free Starlink Wi-Fi on select aircraft, partnering with SpaceX to upgrade its in-flight connectivity. The service will be available to all first and business class passengers, as well as premium economy and economy passengers who are KrisFlyer members. The rollout is progressive, beginning in the first quarter of 2027 and concluding by the end of 2029. However, the service will not be universal; it is limited to the Airbus A350-900 long-haul and ultra-long-haul fleet, as well as all Airbus A380 aircraft. This covers just over one-third of the carrier's nearly 150 passenger aircraft. Notably, Boeing 737 MAX 8s, 777-300ERs, 787-10s, and medium-haul A350-900s will not receive the upgrade. While SIA already offers free Wi-Fi across its entire fleet using Panasonic systems, the switch to Starlink promises significantly higher speeds and lower latency, enabling live streaming and productivity. The rollout timeline of nearly three years for 53 planes is considered slower than typical Starlink installations
