What happened
Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) has announced a two-day strike by Lufthansa Group pilots from 12:01 AM Monday, April 13, 2026, to 11:59 PM Tuesday, April 14, 2026. The strike covers Lufthansa, Lufthansa CityLine, and Lufthansa Cargo. Eurowings pilots will strike exclusively on April 13. The strike impacts flights departing from Germany. The primary exception is for flights to and from the Middle East (including Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Yemen, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE), which are expected to operate as planned. This exemption is due to the importance of these services. The strike is driven by two main issues: the company pension scheme for Lufthansa and Lufthansa Cargo pilots (shifting from a traditional model to a capital market-financed one) and failed collective bargaining negotiations regarding remuneration for Lufthansa CityLine pilots. Lufthansa has issued a travel advisory, and most cancellations have been loaded into the system. Passengers are advised to check flight status pages for updates
