What happened
Following the closure of Bahrain's airspace to commercial traffic on February 28, 2026, national carrier Gulf Air has established a temporary mini-hub in Dammam, Saudi Arabia (DMM). The airline moved most of its fleet to Al-Ula, Saudi Arabia, to minimize risk from regional conflict. Effective immediately, Gulf Air is offering limited special flights from Dammam to Bangkok (BKK), London (LHR), and Mumbai (BOM). Passengers must register their details via a specific form to be contacted by a sales agent; they should not proceed to the airport without confirmation.
