What happened
Chase has updated the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card to include 3 points per dollar earned on gas purchases, effective June 30, 2026. This benefit stacks with the card's existing earning structure: 3x on dining worldwide (including takeout and eligible delivery services), 3x on online groceries (excluding Target, Walmart, and wholesale clubs), and 2x on general travel (including flights, hotels, car rentals, and ride-hailing). The card also earns 1x on all other purchases. The annual fee is $95. This update enhances the card's utility for everyday spend, particularly for frequent drivers
