What happened
American Airlines has put Flagship Dining back in service at LAX this week following a renovation. The restaurant closed in 2020. It is a complimentary a la carte restaurant with table service inside the Flagship Lounge, not a buffet. Matching dining rooms already operate at the Flagship Lounges in Dallas/Fort Worth and Miami.
Until recently only Flagship First on the 777-300ER or A321T could use it. Since September, Flagship Business Plus on the 787-9 or 777-300ER qualifies at those lounges. Business class on a Flagship-marketed long-haul flight also qualifies, as do Flagship transcontinental and Hawaii itineraries. Ordinary domestic first class does not. At LAX some transcontinental Flagship business-class flights now qualify, but the ticket must be marketed as Flagship.
Tables are limited, so guests join a waitlist after they arrive at the Flagship Lounge. American will end stand-alone long-haul first class on 777s after November 19. Transcontinental Flagship First ends in March as the airline refreshes cabins toward a larger business-class product.
If you hold a Flagship-marketed business-class ticket out of LAX, Dallas/Fort Worth or Miami, go to the Flagship Lounge and join the waitlist for Flagship Dining.
