American Airlines has confirmed plans to retrofit its fleet of Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners with the new Flagship Suites product. The carrier first introduced these suites, featuring sliding privacy doors, on 787-9s over a year ago. The 787-8 upgrade is part of a broader cabin refresh that includes new economy interiors. While American did not announce a specific effective date, the rollout is scheduled for later this year. Currently, Flagship Suites are available on 11 787-9s and new A321XLRs, with future plans to add them to 777-300ERs and 777-200ERs. The 787-8s currently feature 20 lie-flat beds; the new configuration will likely differ in seat count and layout
