Currensea issues AAdvantage Visa debit cards in the UK

What happened

UK debit spend can now earn American Airlines AAdvantage miles and elite-qualifying Loyalty Points through Currensea's new Visa Black and Platinum cards, which pull purchases from a linked bank account. Currensea already issues similar UK debit cards for other airline and hotel programs.

Turbo Miles can be switched on to add 2 AAdvantage miles per GBP of foreign-currency spend. That option raises the FX rate from 0.95% to 2.95%, an extra 1 penny per AAdvantage mile or Loyalty Point issued. AAdvantage elite status is based on Loyalty Points, and miles from card spend count. The sign-up bonus does not.

Leave Turbo Miles off unless 1 penny per extra mile is worth the 2.95% FX rate.
