Uber emailed Uber One members that eligible rides will start earning 5% credits instead of 6% in the coming weeks and framed the reduction as an improvement.
The membership costs $9.99 a month or $96 a year and is bundled with some credit cards. Members currently earn 6% back on spending as credits. That rate drops to 5% on eligible rides, a 17% cut. Credits remain usable on later rides and Uber Eats orders.
Uber noted that members can share the membership with one extra adult and household teens at no extra cost. Benefits apply in 45+ countries. Hotel bookings through Uber earn 10% credits and up to 20% off select stays. Zero delivery fees and surge savings continue.
Ride credits will start accruing at 5% instead of 6% with no registration required.
