TSA pauses Gateside expansion, leaving 13 pilot airports

What happened

The Points Guy reports that TSA has pulled Gateside by TSA PreCheck back from about 300 U.S. airports to the original 13 that launched as a pilot in September 2026. The agency's application page had listed those extra airports even though TSA never publicized the expansion. That wider list is gone from the portal. Norfolk Airport Authority said TSA told it the program is on hold indefinitely outside the pilot airports. TSA did not respond to The Points Guy, and the Gateside site still promises more airports in the coming months.

Gateside lets TSA PreCheck members clear security without a ticket and accompany travelers to the gate. Airport-run gate passes still exist elsewhere, but non-passengers at those airports go through standard screening rather than PreCheck lanes.

A PreCheck member can no longer use Gateside to walk someone to the gate beyond those 13 airports.

Look up the airport on the Gateside portal before a non-ticketed escort, and fall back on the airport's own gate pass outside the 13 pilots.
