Thailand’s DSI Investigates ฿74.9 Billion Bid-Rigging Scandal at Suvarnabhumi Airport

Thailand’s Department of Special Investigation is reviewing evidence of bid-rigging in a ฿74.9 billion airport technology and security contract at Suvarnabhumi Airport, managed by Airports of Thailand (AOT)

What happened

Thailand’s Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has launched a formal review into alleged bid-rigging linked to a ฿74.9 billion (US$2.25B) contract bidding scandal at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport. The airport is managed by Airports of Thailand (AOT). The investigation focuses on infrastructure projects including airport internet, passenger drop-off systems, i-PRO network cameras, FastLane passenger systems, CCTV, and automated passport control. Evidence includes LINE chat logs and procurement records submitted by Mr. Sittra Biebangkerd, Secretary-General of the People’s Lawyers Foundation. The DSI’s Bid Rigging Division is assessing whether the allegations meet the threshold for a full "special case" investigation. The probe implicates senior figures, a former deputy prime minister, and a major media organization, though specific names remain undisclosed
