Thailand will cut visa-free stays to 30 days from 15 September 2026

What happened

Thailand will drop visa-free stays from 60 days to 30 days for 60 nationalities, shrinking eligibility from 93 countries, and cap most land-border entries at 2 per calendar year, with the change due 15 days after Royal Gazette publication, likely 15 September 2026.

Seychelles and Mauritius sit on a separate 15-day visa-free list. Only 3 nationalities will still get visa on arrival. There is no entry-count limit on air arrivals. Malaysia and Singapore nationals are exempt from the land cap, as are those of Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia.

Points travellers who used Thailand for longer visa-free stays or land-border visa-run resets will have 30 days in-country instead of 60 and fewer ways to extend a visit without a visa.

Confirm visa-free eligibility before any visit after mid-September 2026 and do not rely on land-border visa runs.
