What happened
Royal Jordanian Airlines crew were involved in a fatal bus accident on the Long Island Expressway in New York on Monday, June 29, 2026, around 11:45 PM. The bus was transporting crew members from flight RJ8261 (Amman to JFK) to their hotel after landing at 9:45 PM. The bus collided with two vehicles, hit the center divider, overturned into eastbound lanes, and crashed into additional traffic. Two people were killed: the 35-year-old driver and a passenger believed to be a crew member. Dozens of crew members were hospitalized with mostly minor injuries, though at least one other person is in critical condition. The accident shut down both directions of the Long Island Expressway for approximately 10 hours. The driver had seven prior arrests and seven moving violations. The cause is under investigation
