What happened
Delta will fly Boston to Venice 4 times a week from 7 May through 29 October 2027 on an Airbus A330-300 and Detroit to Athens 3 times a week from 8 June through 28 October 2027 on an A330-200, with no new European cities for summer 2027. Both routes are seasonal.
Daily Austin to Paris on an A330-900neo from 27 March through 24 October 2027 had already been announced and is restated in the same package. For the same season American added 3 new European cities and United added 10.
Delta is short of extra long-haul metal until later widebody deliveries, many not due until 2029 or after. Incoming A350s are increasingly aimed at non-Europe long-haul. The airline did not order the A321XLR, which rivals are using to open thinner European cities.
There are no new SkyMiles cities to chase.
