What happened
Asiana leaves Star Alliance on December 16, 2026 and will be fully absorbed into Korean Air, with Asiana branding phased out. Asiana members who link SKYPASS accounts will see miles transfer on December 17, 2026. Korean Air notifies members when the transfer is complete. Unlinked accounts do not receive the automatic transfer.
Transferred miles remain a separate SKYPASS balance for up to 10 years. Miles in that balance still redeem for Asiana flights using the Asiana award chart, but only when the balance covers the ticket. Mixing Asiana and SKYPASS miles requires converting the entire Asiana balance. Asiana and Star Alliance flight miles convert at 1:1. Miles from credit cards or other partners convert at 1:0.82. Asiana miles cannot book Star Alliance partners after December 16, 2026.
SKYPASS will match Asiana elite status and honor the current expiration date. Asiana elite no longer qualifies for Star Alliance status.
Link accounts before December 17, 2026 and spend partner-earned miles plus remaining Star Alliance awards before converting flight miles at 1:1.
