K2 Airways Boeing 737 Crashes in Arabian Sea After Navigation Issues

A K2 Airways Boeing 737-400 freighter crashed into the Arabian Sea late July 7, 2026, after pilots reported navigation issues and the aircraft experienced a rapid, steep descent from cruising altitude

What happened

Late on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, a K2 Airways Boeing 737-400 freighter (registration AP-BOI) crashed into the Arabian Sea while en route from Sharjah (SJH) to Karachi (KHI). The 27-year-old aircraft, originally delivered to Aeroflot and later converted to a freighter, had five people onboard. The flight departed at 8:02 PM PST. Around 9:18 PM, approximately 180 miles from Karachi, pilots reported navigation system issues to air traffic control. Shortly after, the aircraft descended rapidly from 35,000 feet to 30,000 feet, climbed briefly to 36,000 feet, and then plunged to sea level in two minutes, losing radar contact at 9:22 PM. Speculation is ongoing regarding the cause, with possibilities including mechanical failure, intentional act, or missile strike, though navigation issues were the primary reported symptom before the descent. Search and rescue efforts are underway
