ICE Agents Handcuff Man At Las Vegas Airport, Then Run Off Mid-Arrest

ICE agents arrested a Vietnamese national at Las Vegas Airport (LAS) on July 13, 2026, but fled mid-arrest due to a crowd, leaving him with one cuff. He was later arrested at LAX

What happened

On the evening of Monday, July 13, 2026, ICE agents arrested Phu Nguyen, a 57-year-old Vietnamese national who overstayed his visa, at Las Vegas Airport (LAS). Video shows agents handcuffing him on the terminal floor before fleeing mid-arrest, leaving him with one cuff on, citing a crowd of "anti-ICE agitators" for de-escalation. Police removed the cuff as he had no outstanding warrants at that moment, allowing him to continue to Los Angeles. He was subsequently arrested by ICE upon landing at LAX on July 14. DHS stated the initial arrest was paused for officer safety
