What happened
GOL Linhas Aéreas has confirmed it will lease at least five Airbus A330-900neos from Avolon, with an option for two more, marking its entry into widebody long-haul operations. Deliveries are expected in 2026 and 2027. The aircraft will be based at Sao Paulo Guarulhos (GRU) and are intended for routes to the United States (likely Miami and Orlando) and Europe (Lisbon, London, Paris, Rome). This move coincides with GOL's controlling shareholder, Abra Group, potentially transferring aircraft from Azul, which recently emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The introduction of the A330-900neo is expected to bring GOL's first business class cabin, likely featuring flat beds with direct aisle access
