Amanvari Calls Police on Hotel Reviewer, Cancels Reservation Days After Opening

Newly opened Amanvari in Mexico canceled a reviewer's reservation and called police on him at the gate, claiming no reservation despite confirmation emails

What happened

Amanvari, the newest property from ultra-luxe hotel group Aman, opened in Mexico and faced immediate operational issues. Hotel reviewer Ryan Walker booked a stay for earlier this week. Upon arrival, security claimed they had no record of his reservation, despite him showing a confirmation email from the morning of his arrival. A supervisor insisted the reservation was not confirmed. Walker asked to speak to a manager but was told access was denied as it was private property. Security then called the police. Walker later found an email from the hotel sent late the night before, stating they were reducing arrivals to settle into full operation and regrettably affecting his stay. He noted that the hotel continued accepting other reservations for that night, suggesting the cancellation might have been strategic or due to early-phase chaos. The incident was captured in an 11-minute video titled “Amanvari Called the Police on Me.”
